1910.1450 Laboratory Chemicals: citations, penalties and recently cited employers

Known as the Laboratory Standard, this rule applies to laboratory use of hazardous chemicals on a laboratory scale, where multiple chemicals and procedures are used and procedures are not part of a production process. Employers must develop and carry out a written chemical hygiene plan, designate a chemical hygiene officer, keep exposures below permissible limits, provide employee information and training, offer medical consultation and examinations after possible overexposures, and maintain fume hoods and other protective equipment. It replaces most other health standards for covered labs.
